Short repairs refer to those repairs that you can do entirely and accurately quickly (typically in less than 60 or 30 minutes) during a PM. In addition, the repair can be safely carried out with the tools and materials that the PM person bears. Short repairs are written up for equipment history. The PM person does the job and writes the short repair on the bottom of the PM work order or on a Log Sheet. There are a number of drawbacks to short repairs that should be identified and handled: 
• The skill requirement for PM people for short repairs is quite high
• Short repairs require significant judgment 
• One thing that you need to accept is that short repairs cause schedule disruptions
